Sennheiser IE8

In ear monitor or commonly known by audiophile as IEM is a small piece of gadget that make make music on the go an amusing experience and irresistible. Like others, I love to enjoy music while walking on the street, taking public transport or go into bed with song after song. To enjoy such privilege, many people including myself take seriously the sound quality of IEM when choosing the right pair of acquaitance for the portable music player. I've used iPOD Touch for a while and never could get enough music experience from my Shure SCL2. Therefore, I decided to take IEM seriously and get myself one of the premium product offered by Sennheiser.

For those, that aren't familiary with Sennheiser, it is one of the leading premium brand for heaphone, IEM and other audio equipements (Sennheiser). I got one of this from online retailer through amazon at 190GBP shipped. Alternatively, this babe can be spotted online at 25oGBP. It arrived to me within two days time, what a prompt service by the company, well done! At first glance, the box is very solid, made of strong and thick plastic in my favorite color 'Black' and 'Blue' label. The front has a paper cover with the IEM printed and some description. Flipping over the lid revealed the IEM and couple other accesories included. I didn't have photo to shows the content but it is very generous by Sennheiser to includes numbers of earbug catering different users. There was a mini tool found that could be used to adjust the bass output and a pair of adjustable ear clip for those that prefer a greater support to hold the cables around the back end of the ears. Sennheiser also includes a carry box which housed the earpiece, couple earbug and the mini tool which I wont' be using.

For anyone that is serious or interested about headphone and IEM, it is recommended to refers to Head-Fi forums for insight user experience and feedback. There are numerous topic about various well known audio devices. I found a dedicated discussion for this babe along with its sibling IE7 and IE6. This babe needs 200 hours of burn-in time before able to perform at its best audio quality. I had yet to achieve that milestone but supprisingly it has brings upon amazing music experience like never before. It could almost match up with my Denon ATH-D2000 that I had post a short review of it. The bass is present and toward my liking, deep and concerntrated yet not having a vibrator shaking in my brain driving me dizzy. I could listen to music for longer hours with this babe compared to Shure (SORRY!). It is so comfortable to wear for extended period and cables does not tangle around. Not to mention the cable is detachable, thus, replacing the broken cables is possible and prolong the lifespan of this sexy babe. However, out of so many positive sign possessed by the IE8, I suffered similar situation like some of the IE8 users. Getting the right earfoam is nightmare, I tried most of the medium and large size of each shape and had yet to get the best balance between comfortability and seal. Despite of that, this does not stopped me from enjoying my music on the go with trusty iTouch. Can't stop to recommend this to anyone looking for quality IEM at lower price than the other premium brands (Shure and Ultimate Ears).

Thanks again to Sennheiser to make such remarkable product to compete with Ultimate Ears 10 and Shure 530 series.

City of London Part II

Continue of 2nd visit .....

In the previous post, I had covered London bridge in my visit and it was a short but stunning experience. After the visit, I went to another tourist hot spot ' London Eye' where the great ferries wheel located just beside a canal separating two land. This is really the first time seeing such a huge ferries wheel standing in the middle of city. The sky were getting dark and sunlight was fading away. This realy make photography a great challenge even for Doom's favourite gadget. I had to increased ISO setting significantly and keeping the shutter speed slow as well. These two combination setup requires great deal of steady hand to ensure minimal blur photo shot. I took couple photo of the machine standing like a tiny ant beneath the giant wheel. I was not particulary happy with the outcome but hey that's all I could do.

I walked to other side of the wheel through a bridge, an elegant and futuristic architecture building that remind me the great bridge at Hong Kong that I'd seen couple years back. From the bridge one could become spectator of the London Eye and Clock Tower in same horizon. Unfortunately with the sky getting dark, taking such a magnificent view requires great deal of tool and strong gadget. I didn't even hesitate not to take such shot (I'll be back!!) and walk further because of my empty stomach grumbling and craze for feeds. During the walk, there were several historical church along the way stood within crowded night crawlers. I went with friends into a restaurant for full course meal there were moderately pleasing but 'hey, it had us all full up'.

We took another long walk going around to have a close view of the Clock Tower and along the way. I came to the opposite end of where London Eye were standing with purple light circling the wheel, it was beautiful with different atmoshphere. Despite the distance, I'd extented my barrel as much possible to 70mm to capture the scene. As the night getting late, my friend urge to have a night view of the Clock Tower before heading back home. It was few minutes walk away before standing below the ancient building. There were renovation construction on going and one portion of the building wasn't lid up. It makes the whole building seems to be taken apart with each has its own ground.

The trip overall was a satisfaction because the number of places visited while avoiding traffic and human crowds. I was really indulge with the greatness of these building and architecture that managed to attract millions of visitor each year locally and faraway across the ocean.

City of London

1st Visit

London a city that had tremendous growth since 18th century where this busy city is famous place for many visitors. I went there couple times with friends and visited few places in this big and historical city. It's not hard to get to the city with some pound to be spent for train, coach or drive which I find driving into the city is the worst. Like any other developed city, London is known for traffic and roads are congested during rush hours. Therefore, taking a train service is the best option despite one need to be familiar with the train system to get on the right train.

My first impression when I got there was 'OLD', the city is really ancient with old buildings standing on the street. However, it was really crowded with people on the street rushing for their daily task which I've no idea. Never mind, lets get back to the experience riding on Doom's Travel. The first place I had got off was famous 'Oxford Street' where a long range of luxury brand for all kind of merchandise located. I can't remember how long was the street but I took few hours time to browse through from one shop to another. Thanks to the crowd and poor weather condition, I didn't get to unleash my Doom's D80 to capture some of the crowd seen at this famous shopping district damn!

The first trip were short and I had the opportunity to visit Chinatown, center of many Chinese people gathered for trade and cuisines.

2nd Visit
The short trip was not a satisfactory for someone like me that is always curious and enthusiast about knowing what is more behind this big busy city described by many people. The second trip was unplanned and impulse decision make by my friends. We went there in the beautiful afternoon and got there around late evening. I did manage to get a nice shot of the evening in the picture to the left, the weather were lovely for the trip. This were taken in a city by the name 'Milton Keynes', a city that is s center of many organization headquarters.

The first place that I managed to get to is the famous London Bridge. I never really knew much about the history of the bridge but one thing for sure is the crowd proved it's a famous travel spot. There were many like me, amazed by the bridge itself and the view was spectacular when standing above the big river. I stood in between the two end of the bridge joining together. The gap were about an inch and the river is just right below of it. It was a bit scary, for someone like me that is a bit nervous with such height.

I took few photo of the scene at the bridge and hopefully it could help to illustrate my 'scared' feeling of the bridge's height.

Look at it !!!

Story will be continued ...... stay tune!!

Denon AH-D2000

I had this quite sometimes ago, probably several weeks back. It was a tough purchase to decide due to the price of the ear can going up as much as 200 GBP. This is not anyone kind of price to be paid for a small headset compared to high endPC speaker set such as Logitech Z-5500 with full surround setup and THX certified. I had research in many forums to found this headset that I wish it could satisfied my entertainment needs. It took even more time to get this cans at this price including delivery since the price could sky high at 350 GBP in some other so called 'retail online shop'. Regardless how much the price is I had paid for it.

Basically, I've several pairs of in ear headset and a SONY MCR 200 as well, but those just can't satisfied me regardless sound quality or comfortably. Another critical reason of getting this babe instead of monster Z-5500 is the size. I can't be doing house moving all the time with something weight almost quarter of me. I had been using Creative T-40 for almost a year but the bass is crapped, I mean really crapped. It is loose and out controlled, result of manufacturing defective, I should had it RMA but it was Christmas back then. No one want to goes through the days without a nice speaker as companion during cold and lonely period. Friends were all gone back to their home town left me at the student accommodation. Anyway forget about this piece of shXXt.

The package arrived when I was about time got very angry with the delayed service for almost four days since I paid for next day delivery. Somehow the package got dented a bit due to unknown reason which I'm reluctant to think of. Basically, the packaging is fairly simple for something cost that much, the headset sit nicely in the weak packaging support wish I bet Denon did not foreseen their product would travel around the globe before reaching end customer. The box rigidity is far from being sufficient especially at the given price, it is soft and lack of proper supporting frame within the box itself to handle pressure of stacking items up. On the other hand, the accessory included just a simple 3.5mm to 5.3mm jack which I'd never be using it.

Despite all these unpleasant first impression, when I was holding the headset up. EVERYTHING PAID OFF !!! The headset is light with it is magnesium construction which is amazing at the size of the headphone itself. The second thing that amazed me is the comfort of the ear pad which is so soft and scratch less unlike those foam type. The third thing that I like is the fully sleeved cable to prevent cut and over bend that many in ear canal headset suffered from. Overall I really love the build quality of the headset itself.

I did few movie test for preliminary test and helping the headset going through its burn in effect. The clarity of sound quality is definitely up to my expectation while the bass is tight and deep. However, the bass output is not as strong like some other highly bass concentrated headphone which I always find hard to get use to it for long listening session. The detail of sound that this babe could produce is really awesome. I watched some soap drama and noticed background sound in the drama more audible such as slight traffic sound and etc. The overall sound quality get even better as the burn in time kicking, music have never been so clear before.

I love it because it would be my companion for the days coming while happily retiring my 'faulty' T-40. Thanks to Denon for making up such as nice headphone at the price which in the passtmight easily get up to 500GBP.
